When sex and technology don't mix

If you're given the choice between an awesome gadget and a weekend getaway with a hot girl ... sometimes it's just best to change the channel. Such is the case with Playboy TV's new reality dating show, "Gadget or the Girl."

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Let's face it, Playboy is dead meat, the old guy just won't let go. If it wasn't for his daughter buying in to hardcore he'd be out in the street and do you think the 3 bimbos would be taking care of him then? All Playboy productions reek of desperation and make the viewer uncomfortable, so they don't stay around.

I for one am glad that playboy is not so famous and prominent as it once was. The only problem is that free porn is taking its place. I'd go for the gadget, by the way.

Given that couldn't "partake" of the girl, I'd have to go with the gadget. Honestly, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me that this would be appealing. There are going to be guys who always pick one over the other and some who want both. I am sure that there are some married men out there would like to go on the date, but have no interest in either cheating on the wife or getting the gadget; they just want to be on TV.

What's the difference in the first place? If she is advertising herself the way this girl is, she is acting like a gadget. I am all for women's lib, but come on, we women have now taken to showing off everything. Save something for the imagination. Then you want to cry respect. I am tired of images like this.

It depends on what options come with each selection; let's say the device has all the latest attachments and optonal equipment, but no warranty I would then go for the girl.

Now if the girl comes with all options available and is available for prior inspection, then I would take the girl.

If the equipment is warrantied and falls into my special niche need area and I have time to work with it to get the most out of it, then I would take ..... this is tough..... are all options available on the girl?

I've been married for over 32 years. My darling wife hasn't wanted to be intimate with me
for the last 22 years. Guess which one I would pick, if I had the chance? We don't even
get that channel on our satellite service. So I can't tell if it is worth watching or not.

Girl...do you even have to think about it?

I have to agree with Cleareye. Not only is Playboy desperate, it is ut of touch. The three fairly dim women on "The Girls Next Door" along with pretty much all the others that show up are insulting to both men that watch (OK, I'll watch for a minute or two to see what dumb thing they are doing, but it is only because the channel is close to the Comedy Channel), as well as women. The show continues the traditional "dumb broad" stereotype that ancient Hugh grew up on.

I'd pick the girl over the gadget every time because the girl will be more interesting, even if it is a diversion. However, if I were on the show, I'd pick the girl that seemed to be the most intelligent over the bimbo. It has been my experience that intelligent women are generally more erotic that unintelligent women. It has also been my experience that intelligent women as physically attractive and erotic as an unintelligent woman, generally more so!!!

On another note, I think they are crazy if they only show a small thumbnail of the gadget with out describing it is some detail. If advertisers think that gadget-loving geeks are going to watch the show, why would they waste their money on pathetic product placement?

I cannot believe no has said it yet, but here it goes, "you can always buy the gadget, you cannot always buy a girl". So I would take the girl. Could be residual side effects like meeting her friends and second dates.
